Do I download SiteScan, or is it an online application?
No download or reconfiguration is required to use SiteScan. It is an Internet-hosted application you access using the OptiView Web site.

What browsers does SiteScan work with?
SiteScan works with Netscape Navigator version 2 and higher; Microsoft Internet Explorer version 3 and higher; and all versions of AOL. To use SiteScan with AOL browsers, you must follow these setup instructions to make it work successfully. In addition, SiteScan may work with other browser types, but this has not been tested.
How often do I get automatic SiteScan reports?
SiteScan automatic reports are delivered weekly, on the day and time of your choosing. Hourly and daily scans can be scheduled via request.
Can I use my subscription on my home and work computers?
As long as you are the person using the subscription, you can use SiteScan from any computer.
Can I get extra runs of the SiteScan reports?
Yes, you can request extra reports at any timeat no extra charge.
Will SiteScan overload my server?
No. Since we don't like to run the risk of overloading your server, we run scans in such a way that your server is never compromised, which sometimes takes a little longer. You can adjust the number of concurrent hits.
Can I select when automatic SiteScan reports run?
Typically, reports start between midnight and 6:00 AM EST to take advantage of typically low off-peak server usage. However, you can select which days of the week and hours of the day you would prefer to start reports using the account management page.
Can I turn off automatic reports?
Yes. To turn off automatic reports, go to the account management page and uncheck all days of the week.
How do I use my Zip/TAR file?
The compressed file is generated from each scan run against your Web site. This attached file contains the newly-optimized images that fall under the efficiency level specified (it defaults to 90%, and is adjustable per scan). The directory structure of your site is mirrored in the compressed file so that it may be uncompressed directly into your Web site or site staging area. Each of your existing images is then replaced with the optimized oneusing the same file name. Your site is then ready to go live with its new, optimized content.
How do I edit individual images?
First, log into your account using the OptiView Web page. From the pull-down menu at the top of the page, select Single Image Compression/Editor, and click Go. You can then either upload an image from your computer's hard drive, or enter the URL for a specific image on a Web page (you can get the URL by right-clicking on the image and selecting Properties). OptiView's image editing tools you to view your image at multiple optimization levels, and enable you to crop, rotate, resize, and change the image's colors. To save the optimized image to your hard drive (for use on your site), right-click the image.
How can I run additional reports on all or part of my site?
First, log into your account using the OptiView Web page. From the pull-down menu at the top of the page, select SiteScan Q/A (Quick Submit), and click Go. You can then run a partial scan on your entire site or any portion of it, including the number of levels to report on, how many pages to go through, and what levels of images you want optimized. You can also choose to check internal and external links, follow dynamic links, and produce "AOL safe" images for your site (if you expect your users to browse in to your site using AOL, you need to select this option).
What if my email address changes?
You can change your email address at any time using the account management page.
Can I send a copy of the reports to a co-worker?
Yes, you can designate a "copy to" email address using the account management page.
If I have an annual subscription, do I need to resubscribe at the end of the year?
If you subscribe with a credit card, your subscription renews annually until you end your subscription using the account management page. Your card is charged each year for resubscribing.
After I subscribe, can I change which credit card you bill?
You can change your credit card information at any time using the account management page.
Can I end my subscription at any time?
Yes, you can end your subscription at any time using the account management page. However, please be aware that even one use of the SiteScan service is considered fulfillment of your subscription, and subscriptions cannot be prorated.
