OPTIVIEW LAUNCHES INTEGRATED WEB IMAGE OPTIMIZATION SERVICE
PreFlight Product Integrates Image Optimization Directly into Web Site Production Workflow
DULLES, VA, October 31, 2001OptiView Technologies (www.optiview.com), a leading provider of Web content optimization services, today announced the general availability of PreFlight, a unique content preparation service that automatically resizes and streamlines Web images as a seamless part of the Web site production process. PreFlight optimizes images before they appear online, speeding page download times up to 50 percent, improving user experience and ultimately saving money on bandwidth.
"Web sites often sacrifice quality, lose customers and incur significant costs because it takes hours to optimize content," said Donna Hemmert, CEO of OptiView Technologies. "PreFlight's intelligent, customized resizing features can be integrated directly into a company's Web site development system, freeing valuable time and ensuring quality over an entire site."
For example, many sites receive new graphics daily, from various news content feeds, which need to be converted to multiple image sizes. In addition, many of these images are bloated. PreFlight compresses these images prior to posting, speeding page download times. Using customer-specified criteria, PreFlight's real-time resizing takes each image and changes it to a variety of dimensions, colors, depths, and image types.
"PreFlight consistently manipulates and compresses images through a simple HTML form and standard C language interface," says Tom Kirchman, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of OptiView. "Our five years of experience in image serving and optimization enables PreFlight to quickly solve Web site image issues that other market solutions can't begin to address."
