PreFlight is an appliance for pre-production image manipulation and optimization. Unlike software, which requires lengthy integration with a Web development infrastructure, PreFlight is a simple, plug-and-play appliance that sits behind live production Web servers. Instead of acting as a transparent proxy server (like other OptiView appliances), the PreFlight appliance’s content acceleration engine acts as a Web server that optimizes Web content via HTTP interfaces.
PreFlight provides two Application Programming Interfaces (APIs):
The image upload API is used to manipulate images and Web content in numerous ways, including optimization levels, resizing, compression, adjusting colors, and more. Use image upload to post your images and content to the PreFlight appliance for optimization.
The direct server access API provides the same image manipulation and content optimization features as the image upload API, but instead pulls images directly from a host server.
